Made with care

Unique creation process.

Montessori education focusses on attention, involvement and perfection. These elements are not just critical to the use of materials but also form the basis for their creation. We combine skills with advanced technology and modern equipment. The result: a high-quality product. For over eighty-five years, Nienhuis Montessori has been using these special and traditional methods to create its materials. They invest a lot of love in the shape, colour and character of the materials created. Unique materials for unique children. The Nienhuis factory is certified by the ISO 9001-Quality Management System Standard and the ISO 14001-Environmental Management System Standard.

Environmental Responsibility

  • Raw materials

    Raw materials

The use of wood as our primary raw material allows us to reduce our environmental footprint. We try to influence our suppliers to buy FSC certified wood raw materials as much as possible, which promotes environmentally sound and economically robust forestry. Plastic and metal parts are ensured durable enough to last for generations.

  • Production

Our factory has thoroughly considered its strategies for surface treatment, energy consumption and packaging options so that environmental impact is minimized and efficiency is maximized.

  • Byproducts & waste

Our factory has introduced decisive processes in order to ensure that the produced variety of by-products has a minimal impact on the environment. A water purification system utilizes a limited amount of chemicals or no chemicals at all to cleanse the water before it is released back into circulation.

  • Shipping & Transport

We source materials from companies in ten different countries and sells products in over eighty countries. As our factory is located close to a large port, we create transportation advantages as well as ecological advantages.

  • ICTI Ethical Toy Program Certification

The ICTI program focusses on safe work environments, ensuring that workers are treated fairly with respect and dignity and that factories operate ethically. It also draws on conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and other initiatives to promote fair labor practices.
